5 An update

by Brian Crisp
Feb 20, 2013
Pros: Incredible build quality. Amazing anti-smudge coating. Never scratch. Tack-sharp lens. Perfect colors.
Cons: Price, but you get what you pay for.
I feel the need to update my previous review after wearing these for several months. I think I was initially unfair to them, and they deserve 5 stars. Although I still prefer the slight green tint of the Ray Ban and Persol, I love these Kaenons. They are the most expensive sunglasses I've ever purchased, but they are worth every penny. You can't beat them in terms of quality, performance, fit, and style. They feel like something valuable. Like they were made in another time, back in the day. Yet they have the latest technology. All the acuity of glass, impact resistance of polycarbonate. Amazing.

The Burny is almost identical to the Burnet in terms of style, but the Burny is larger, which suits my large head. At first I wasn't sure how I felt about the chrome accent on the temple, but now I love it. It makes them stand out among the Wayfarer crowd. None of my friends have Kaenons, and I get lots of compliments. "What kind are those? Where did you get those?" In wearing these I feel like I've discovered a secret nightclub that nobody else knows about. Dear Kaenon, please continue to make them in Italy. Don't change anything. Don't open a factory in China. Several of my previously favorite sunglass companies have done this, and the quality suffers. I hope to buy Kaenons for many years.

5 availability

Pros: Best fishing sunglasses I have every used
Cons: Has been out of stock for months
I love the brand, the brand's performance, and the styling. I particularly like that Kaenon makes a sunglass for people with fuller faces. However, I am frustrated that the customer service has put the ball in my court "try back in 2 weeks" instead of calling me when stock is replenished.

3 My first pair of Kaenon's. Some suggestions.

by Brian
Oct 26, 2012
Pros: Excellent build quality. Low distortion. Anti-reflective coating.
Cons: I still feel eye strain compared to others.
I bought a pair of Ray Ban's, Wayfarer-style but returned them for these. I wanted the style of Ray Bans, but they have no wrap at all, and let light leak around the sides. This is very annoying while driving when the sun is over your left shoulder, glaring into the side of your eye. The Kaenon Burny gives me the same classic style, and very high build quality, with a wrap to increase coverage. I like that.

However, the lens needs improvement in one area - blue blocking. When I put on a $230 pair of sunglasses, I expect my vision to be enhanced. The Kaenon G12 lens is a grey, color-neutral lens, compared to the Ray Ban's which have a slight green tint. I preferred the G-15 lens of the Ray Ban, and felt the slight grey-green tint enhanced my visual acuity, contrast, and reduced eye-strain by blocking out some of the blue light.

The Kaenon might represent colors better, but I still feel eye-strain when wearing them. Colors are not as important to me as visual acuity and reduced eye strain for long-term wearing in bright sun. If you fix this Kaenon, you'll truly have the perfect lens.

3 Great as usual, but too big for me

by Laurel
Jul 11, 2012
Pros: Large lenses means uninterrupted vision
Cons: Very large
I am a woman and have never had issues with my head being too small for anything (if anything, my face is usually too wide). But these were HUGE on me--they'd fall off easily and I didn't feel secure wearing them while doing anything sporty, which these are designed for after all. There was 1-2 inches of frame left behind my ears. I actually lost them in the ocean due to them being so large :( But, they did look good despite the size. And of course, like all Kaenon glasses, they were amazing in terms of quality and performance otherwise.

5 Best Sailing Glasses

by Eric Cibit
Jun 5, 2012
Pros: Durable, and are great to view water conditions.
Cons: None except very minor delamination on the inside
As a sailor for years, I have had many pairs of Kaenons.
These are the first prescription Kaenons I have ever had, and they have a very wide field of vision and have gone cross country with me for many sailing regattas in the last year and provide great protection from the elements. When other people are looking away when we are getting hit by waves, I can always remain staring at the course, which is important as a tactitian.
The process to get prescription lens in them was straightforward.
The only thing is that they are starting to delaminate on the inside, but I have put them through a lot, so it is probably normal wear and tear.
These are definitely the best Kaenons I have had, and the lens are very difficult to scratch!

5 Great Glasses!!

by Jorge
Mar 14, 2012
Pros: light weight, but durable
Cons:
Just wanted to tell you my little story on how your glasses may have saved my eyes.
I had a pair of mens Burny glasses, and I was so happy with the weight, look and feel it provided, that i made them my riding glasses, forgoing my bulky goggles.
I was on the road with two other friends on our motorcycles, and somebody wrecked into us. This car wiped us all out, and there was a mess of bike parts and glass everywhere. After everything was said and done, When i finally got around to looking at my glasses, they were pretty banged up. But, the important thing that I didn't realize until I got out of the hospital and looked at my face closely, was the perfect outline of your glasses where i was not cut. The glasses were broken, but the frame and lenses held up and protected my eyes from glass, or whatever slashed my face. So it looks like they did what they were supposed to do.
You guys make a great product, and as soon as I get a new bike, and back on the road, you can bet what glasses I will be shopping for again. Thanks for making quality!

5 Amazing...

by Jason Jepson
Aug 24, 2011
Pros: perfect in bright light..
Cons: none...
it has been over 100 for 69 days here in austin, tx... it is hot, hot, hot and sunny, sunny, sunny.... i went and played 2 hours of tennis in the blazing heat. my kaenon's rocked the free world - they never slipped down my nose... the lenses protected my eyes from the sun ... and the best lenses in the world had me seeing the ball better and clearer as the heat radiated from the court... thanks steve and kaenon team for making a great set of shades...

5 They actually fit my big noggin

by Dave Gath
Aug 22, 2011
Pros: good coverage and style - love the wrap
Cons: none
I used to wear RayBans many years ago and this retro style is in that same look, but better. The thing I never liked was how flat RayBans were which allowed light to come in through the sides. Well Kaenon finally fixed that after many years. Although it seems that these are retro in style, they have been updated big-time by adding a wrap around to the frame / lens so they have better coverage from all angles. And if that's not enough, they also fit my huge head which doesn't fit into too many sunglasses in the first place.

5 The Glasses with a little attitude

by Paul Pence
Aug 15, 2011
Pros: Lens quality, retro frame, comfort
Cons: NONE
These glasses are fuller coverage, so they are perfect for bright sunlight or days down near the water. The lenses are top quality with a retro frame style that is super cool. I love these glasses!

5 Love Em

by Porter Hogan
Aug 13, 2011
Pros: These have larger lenses so they protect your eyes extremely well.
Cons: These glasses will almost make you look too good. So when people get so jealous they might try to steal them.
Out of all the Kaenon sunglasses these are by far my favorite. Every day I go to surf down the street I always bring my Burnys. The style fits my personality perfectly. Also these sunglasses have larger lenses than the Burnett sunglasses so they give your eyes a little bit more protection. These glasses have gone with me to tons of surf contests. They have been perfect for checking the conditions.

5 Reliving the Old Days

by Ethan A.
Aug 12, 2011
Pros: Great Lenses and Polarization
Cons: nope
These Burny glasses took me back to when I has a teenager in the 70's. I've been looking for a pair like these for years, and finally came across these! Best sunglasses I have worn in a decade.
